What is Zanshin Dojo?

Zanshin is a term from the Japanese martial arts that denotes a state of heightened corporeal and mental awareness, attention and concentration. Dojo describes a training room for different martial arts (Budo). Figuratively it also stands for companionship of those who train in them.

Situational awareness and to be conscious of and responsible for ones actions is essentially zanshin. It is the opposite of concentrating solely on one's own technique. Whoever wishes to learn a martial art also has to learn not to focus exclusively on his own actions, but to be aware and mindful of his surroundings.

It is always our highest priority in Zanshin Dojo to train as partners, with respect and without injuries.
